Snow in October

Well let's see...Halloween is two days away and we had our first snowfall for the winter as of yesterday. Yes NM is having snow in October! It's awesome. I woke up to rain yesterday then by the time I got to school it was snow mixed with rain. Today is started snowing just before my trumpet lesson. Jeff was worrying about riding his motorcycle home but other than that I had a rather good lesson.

So many wonderful things are happening lately. I start two new piano students tomorrow. My choir has their first concert on November 16th (Home school choir that is, The Voice of Angels Choir). I am getting through my semester with mostly really great grades and making some awesome new friends. I miss marching band to some extent but teaching it has helped with that void, although I look forward to sleeping in next week without having to hit zero hour. Church is great as always, looking forward to Christmas at NCC and seeing how that goes as a regular attendee rather than a guest. Life is pretty good even though I am tired all the time and crazy busy between teaching, working at Keller Hall, school work, nursery at church and other regular weekly events. I can't wait to see where everything goes.

I am also looking forward to going to Indiana in January to see the White Family again. Playing in the snow this time rather than going during peach picking season. Should be quite the adventure. I look forward to Thanksgiving and seeing Mark and Amy. I look forward to Christmas and being with friends and family without the stress of school. I look forward to the adventures that are in front of me.

With this recent snowy weather I have been thinking about the train layout some. The trains layout that was my Pop-Pop's hobby is no longer there, but rather spread among family, friends and other railroad fans. During winter when we had the smallest snowfall, the town would look like a blizzard hit. I was always amazed at the change in the small train town with 'severe' winter weather. I remember Pop-Pop talking one year about how you couldn't see any of the houses after a few days of snowy weather, then going out to look and being in awe of the changes the snow brought to the little town. Silly I know but something I will miss this year. Pop-Pop I hope you are enjoying the most perfect of weather in Heaven.

October Fun and Madness

Well marching competition season is here, the madness of three competitions in one month, combined with all the other daily activities of life...but I must say, AHS did wonderfully at Pageant of Bands. They placed first in their class, got best woodwinds and auxiliary. Very happy and proud of all their hard work. Meanwhile, school is taking its toll on me. I have so much reading and so much to keep straight that some days I just wanna scream. Midterms next week. Zia on Saturday. Fall break but not so much a restful weekend. I hope to catch up by Sunday. Anyone who wants to help lighten my load? Just kidding that won't work out but anyways. I would love to take a day to just sit in the wondrous beauty of God's mountains and relax. Maybe that will come. Hiking and sitting, enjoying the beautiful fall weather would be awesome right now. Soon...well on a happier note, looking forward to Indiana come January. Looks like I will be going the week before UNM spring semester starts. Should be awesomely fun. Well enough for today, I am tired, yet another day that began at 5am and won't be over til about 10pm. Audios. Goodnight. Happy ZIA weekend!

October Begins

October is my favorite time of year- many reasons make it so- we can start with the BALLOONS! Then of course there is my birthday, marching band competition, the great fall weather...many things make October a great month. Of course this year I won't make it to the Balloon fiesta most likely, due to school, working with AHS, Pageant of Bands and other commitments...that's okay because I will enjoy them from afar. School is going well though...Lots and lots of reading and writing, a few small projects and tests have come to be already but overall I am enjoying the education program thus far. I look forward to the end of October too, even though it's my favorite month, but I get some of my life back in a way because marching season ends and then my days are shorter. Then in November I gain Tuesday night choir rehearsal instead...oh well. Lots happening.

Life may be crazy busy but I find myself treasuring all the times I get with friends and family. I love my new friends, mostly from church and YABS, but also some I am starting to talk to in classes, only took five weeks but the friendships or at least classmate relationships are building.

I am also finding myself enjoying nature a lot. I love eating lunch outside, often with my freshman or sometimes just alone, time to reflect and just enjoy God's beautiful creation. Last night at Bible Study we were talking about things in life that make us think of God and how we pray and react to the events in life. I just sat there thinking about Pop-Pop's birthday. Grandma came over and we went out as a family for dinner...it was a rainy day and when she got to our house there was a double rainbow outside. She told me to come look and then told me that it was God's birthday present for Pop-Pop. It was a special moment. 09-09-09, he had asked for a big party while in the hospital, well God gave him a double rainbow to comfort the family to celebrate his life and his eternal life with God. Anyway, the rainbow is a promise from God to never flood the earth again and now it will be a reminder of the salvation of Christ because of the day it fell and the fact that it was Pop-Pop's birthday. What an awesome testament.
