Another Semester of Undergraduate School
As winter break finally comes to an end, I am excited to start my tenth semester at UNM. Has it really been that long? Why yes it has. I miss my friends from the elementary education program, even though I just saw them about a week ago. I like the routine and schedule that school brings and look forward to the adventures of this semester. I love school...go figure I am studying to become a teacher. I just like learning and seeing others learn. I like doing projects and even writing papers...yes school nerd could be my middle name. I am excited and nervous for this semester because I have heard it is the hardest semester in the professional sequence (student teaching semesters). I know that my school work method is very different from most people and do not think that the semester will be that difficult but who knows...17 credits, two days student teaching (one in first grade and the other in music), attempting to substitute once a week and church activities...busy schedule but very doable. School starts Tuesday and I am ready for every moment of the long eleven hour day. It's time for school!!!
I have also been thinking a lot lately about personal goals and priorities. I am hoping to spend some time serving others this semester, whether it's free babysitting or Second Saturday at Sagebrush...I just want to love on those in the community and help someone who may not have the same opportunities as I. I know that God will provide ways for me to serve others and will give me the time and energy to help others. I am learning a lot about God's Word, how to be a genuine friend, how to better myself by studying my Bible and seeking fellowship with other Christians. I am amazed at the wonderful things that have been happening in my life since coming home from El Salvador. The mission trip to El Salvador was such a great reminder of my mission for life, to know Christ and to make Him known. Sagebrush has reminded me of the importance of community and fellowship. My parents have reminded me of the importance of staying focused on what needs to be done. My friends have shown me what it means to be genuine and available. I look forward to seeing what God has in store for this semester.

First week of 2011
Well it was a busy week...All State Music Festival. I worked 21.5 hours in three days...one day was 11 hours at once. Always a fun week but busy. Plus, Chaos started again and Fuel Groups kick off this weekend as well. One more week off from school but with any luck I will sub two or three days and I will start back to student teaching on Thursday. It's amazing how slow and yet so fast five weeks can go by.
Today I had three of my five elementary education school buddies over for tea. It was quite fun. We must hang out more outside of school. Next time maybe everyone will be able to come.
Todd delivered a great sermon tonight. Made me think about quite a few things and how I would like to proceed in this new year. I hope to make a difference for God's kingdom in a radical way throughout 2011. Maybe I can go on another mission trip, maybe I can serve more, maybe I can give more of my stuff to those who are in need, maybe I can feed a meal at one of the shelters on a regular basis...so many ways to do for others when I have so much. After church, it was off to the Bloom house for Bible Study social dinner. After dinner a few members of the group left and Mike and I spent hours playing silly card games with the Bloom's. It was quite entertaining...we played...Shang Hi, Spoons, ERS, 21, High Low, and other games for a good five hours. Lots of laughter and silly comments made for a fun evening. I am really liking this game night idea...let's keep it up all!
Well my brain continues to think of many things that will come in the following months. I am excited to see the births of many babies to friends of mine, I am excited to graduate from UNM in December, I am super excited to still be writing with my pen pal student from my diversity class, and I look forward to the possibilities of having two more semesters with 4.0 GPAs. I am excited to see how God will use me this year for His glory.
