Stuart claims that this will be the "greatest summer ever". Well so far, I have managed to clean most of my bedroom, organizing and getting rid of junk I don't need. I have spent some time with friends that I hadn't had time to see during the semester and have started working on becoming healthier before going to El Salvador.
Thursday, Stuart and I went to Old Town just because. I found great earrings and a necklace and bought a few post cards for El Salvador to show the people we meet where I live. I also got a chain for free (amazing I know) for the butterfly that Mom bought me in Santa Fe last summer and gave me for my birthday. It was quite fun. We didn't make it to a museum but next time!
Friday, the Voice of Angels Choir sang at Carestone. They did a wonderful job. I love those girls. They worked really hard to make a great concert set of music to share some joy with those who are elderly. We made cards and handed them out after our performance. It was quite successful. Then most of the girls and their mom's and I went to Dion's for lunch. It was a grand time.
Today is full of fun as well. Went on about a five mile bike ride this morning. Read more of my book. Next it's off to Sagebrush with Katie and then to dinner and the Wizard of Oz with Grandma. Should be fun. Plus I will wear a new dress, earrings and my butterfly necklace. Opals everywhere! :) Good fun.
I am still not back to working at Target...not even on the schedule even though I said I could come back as of this Monday...so we shall see what happens there. I may not go back but we shall see. I will try calling to check in on that again on Monday.

Summer Has Begun
The garden is now full of roses...
Summer is here...
Knitting, reading books for fun, spending time with friends, teaching music lessons and most exciting of all, PICKING up Dad from the airport after he has been in Uganda for 10 days. I am so glad he made it home after the trouble in Amsterdam with the volcano and having to spend the night in Minneapolis. The team did get some construction done on Camp El-Har even with rain the first few days. Dad also got to see all three of the kids he and Mom sponsor which is great because that is just a blessing. Barbara ran up to Dad squealing in delight when she saw him and asked quickly about Mom and the rest of the family. Kids are the greatest sometimes.
Well other than Dad coming home things have been pretty mellow. I am still working on cleaning out my room and getting many half-way finished projects done but all in time. I almost have my scrap book updated so El Salvador pictures will be the next trip to add. I have been making good progress on many knitting projects and enjoying some quality summer reading. It's amazing what having free time can do.

Hard Work Pays Off
Grades for Spring 2010 are in...Julie has broken a record for her school career...3.9775 GPA for the Spring semester. I cannot remember ever having such a close to 4.0 GPA during my letter graded school years. It's amazing to me what hard work, greater faith in God's plan, focus on school and not dating, having less friends but better ones and being more active in my self employed jobs can create. I had a very busy semester doing school and the many other things I do but yet got the highest GPA of my school life. AMAZING! I am pretty excited. Maybe in the next three semesters of my undergraduate degree I will get at 4.0. That would be exciting.
Well enough about school...grades are posted and now I can stop thinking about school until the last week of August. I am very excited to see what the summer holds. El Salvador is in July, from the fifteenth to twenty-seventh, two days of travel and the rest will be spent working with the people of El Salvador. I cannot wait to see how the team will share the love of Christ while in El Salvador. After the meeting on Thursday, there is still much to be planned but I am even more excited because now I know that the team is really a team. Harold, Kevin, Bud, Maria, Monna and I will be doing great things for Christ during our time in El Salvador.
This week will be full of fun with friends...the following week I was supposed to start back at Target but as of today I am not on the schedule...so that probably means I have two weeks to be relax with friends and work on my bedroom which is good. I have spent about ten hours in the last three days cleaning in my room and bathroom. Mom and I hope to paint my bedroom, which we have been talking about for over a year during Memorial Day weekend....in order to paint I must weed out and clean like a crazy person. It's fun in a way because I am getting rid of tons of stuff I don't need which will help make reorganizing my room easier when we get to painting. Tomorrow also starts my summer exercise and eating right. In the stress of the end of the semester I have gained a few pounds which will not do. I have a plan and hopefully I will stick to it. :) Having healthy lunch at Suzzanne's tomorrow will be a good way to start.
Not much else new happening at the moment. I am grateful school is out but not really wanting to do much yet because I have so much I need to do at home...amazing how a semester of not being home much can destroy a bedroom...so much junk. Oh well...I will finish eventually. I hope to do more tomorrow. I also spent some time on my scrap book today and would like to get that finished up and updated so all of the supplies can be put away until I get El Salvador pictures but that won't be until August. I have maybe three or four pages left of my Indiana trip from January, won't take but maybe an hour...hope to get that done tomorrow so that can be put away.
Dad is on his way home from Uganda. It seems like he has been gone for a very long time. I look forward to hearing stories about the trip and the fun of the team. Should be rather exciting and this time they get home much earlier so we can have some stories before heading to bed tomorrow night. That will be nice.

One Final to go!
Well it's Tuesday of finals week...I have been waiting around to take my last final, which is tomorrow at 7:30am. Anthropology is all I have left and the only class I won't get an A in, most likely. I passed my Astronomy online lab with an A- which is awesome considering I was really unsure of how that would turn out. I am pretty sure I will have A's in all of the other classes I took this semester but nothing is posted for sure yet. I know I got an A+ in math as well. This has been a long semester and trying due to relationships with other people and lack of friends but school wise it was pretty great. I made it through another semester! Three more to go and then undergraduate school at the University of New Mexico will be over! Amazing how time flies.
I also found out late last week that I will be working with a language arts and history teacher at Hoover middle school for my student teaching. I will be meeting with the teacher on Thursday then I will know more about my placement. I am very excited to see where the road of middle school student teaching will lead.
El Salvador is still two months away but we should be getting more information soon which is also something to look forward to. I know that God has great plans for the team.
Dad is still in Uganda...Mom and I decided last night that even though it has only bee 5 days that is seems like much longer just because we are so used to him being able to call every night. It's amazing how being in a different country can change the way a family functions. It's also stressful because it's the end of the school year and the usual schedules are not usual in any sense. All is well though except the team has encountered rain and has been unable to do much construction. Everyone is praying for better weather so the team can get some work done for the orphanage. We shall see. I can't wait to hear all about the trip.

One week left!
Well with one week left of the semester I find myself at a loss for what to think about the way the semester has been. I have been completely crazy with school and all my other activities and look forward to some down time before starting back at Target as a cashier. I will be doing some of the things I haven't had time to do...such as...scrap booking, knitting and finishing a baby blanket for a friend at church, reading for fun (I did get in some fun reading because of Children's Literature but not enough), some bike riding and working out with Nikki and so much more.
If anyone is up for a trip to the Jemez I WILL be going soon. I will also be hitting up the Rio Grande Zoo with the Vigil family and others throughout the summer. I would also like to go camping but don't know that I will make that happen.
Already planned however...
El Salvador for a mission trip in July. I am super excited to be a part of the small team, going to work with youth and young adults in the area and with a local church in El Salvador. I can't wait to see what God has in store for us. I know that God will teach the entire team many great things in the ten days we are out serving Him.
I also look forward to spending time in the pool and hanging out with Grandma. We have had such fun this semester going to various shows and concerts and now the summer fun shall be in the pool with the Swayden family and others who have been coming the past few years to swim. If only the pool were already open! :) Hint hint...I love you Grandma!
Many things in store for this summer. I hope to reconnect with old friends or those I have lost touch with, send more snail mail to brighten the day of others, spend more time relaxing and have a blast this summer. Stuart claims, "This will be the best summer ever!" Let's make it so!
Dad left for Uganda this morning. I wish I had been able to go with him but in God's time we will go together. I look forward to hearing all about the trip on his return and seeing more pictures and hearing more stories about my Uganda sister and brothers. I know the team will do great things and God will keep them safe from harm. Prayers are with Team El-Har!
