End of another week...

This week was full of new and interesting adventures. I substituted in middle school on Monday. Then Monday night was spent talking to a new friend, which was really fun. Tuesday was another school day but the lesson with Bethany and Blaise was awesomely fun...we sight read a ton of Disney music and had a lot of laughs. Wednesday was school, music office then off to Chaos, the middle school ministry at Sagebrush. Afterwards to Dion's with the leaders where there was much laughter and random conversation...Made for a great midweek.

Thursday I was back to Arroyo Del Oso Elementary for student teaching. Some of the students said they had missed me and as in previous weeks I got quite a few hugs from my first grade kids. I also had the chance to be solo for a short time while my master teacher took pictures of the kids for some kind of project. During this time, students were working on their daily writing and an interesting conversation began...here is a short paraphrase...
Student: How does Santa know if we are good or bad?
Student 2: Because Santa is friends with God and God knows who is good and bad. Santa and God are friends.
This was followed by a conversation about God, Santa, Satan, heaven and hell. It became a class discussion without much trouble. Quite interesting to me since I was teaching a Bible story on Monday with middle school language arts students. Where do kids get their creativity and interesting questions from?

Today started with watching Little Mermaid and Monster's Inc while finishing a baby blanket for a friend that I worked with at Target. The blanket is now finished and turned out wonderfully, although it is not a square but oh well...it will be plenty big enough for a crib. Then I went over to school for the student teaching seminar. Afterward I talked with Tom Keyes, my advisor for the education departement, about working in a music classroom for one day out of the two for student teaching next semester and he said that was fine with him. Now I have to talk more with Dr. Carlow about what she wants me to do and then hopefully it will all work out for the spring...one day in music, one day in general elementary. I am very excited that this may work because every time I am in an elementary music class I feel right at home and wish I could be teaching music. Amazing how plans change so fast. Very excited about that.

I have also done a lot of thinking this week about a variety of things. I am enjoying getting to know some of my classmates better since we have four classes and seminar together. I am also starting to get to know more of the leaders at Chaos which makes me feel more comfortable being there. So many things are happening and some days I am just overwhelmed by the possibilities of life.

Thank you Lord for keeping me safe and excited about the things that are happening in my life right now. Please continue to guide me through all that I do. Amen.

Julie
